Authors retain copyright of their work. By publishing with us, authors grant a licence to publish and the article is released under a Creative Commons licence that permits reuse with attribution.
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence by default, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Alternative CC licences may be selected where journal policy permits.
We support the following Creative Commons licences: CC BY (Attribution), CC BY-SA (Attribution-ShareAlike), and CC BY-NC (Attribution-NonCommercial). The chosen licence is displayed on every article page.
To support the costs of open access publishing, some journals levy an Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance. APC amounts are published on each journal’s page and are charged only after editorial acceptance — there is no charge for submission.
Authors from low- and middle-income countries, or who can demonstrate financial hardship, may apply for a full or partial APC waiver. Waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and do not influence editorial decisions.
